Frank Schaeffer is the bestselling author of Crazy for God: How I grew up as one of the elect, helped with the religious right, and lived in all (or resume in almost all) of them. He is the son of the late evangelist Francis Schaeffer and considered himself a permanent Republican. Voted in favor of John McCain in 2000, and McCain also supports a previous book Schaeffer about his military service. But on Friday, Schaeffer published an open letter condemning Senator McCain of Arizona.
