What makes a bestseller?

The dream of every author to write a bestseller, but understand only a few authors know what is really new for a best-seller, and defines what a best seller.

What is needed is selling lots of books. How can a topic out of its own, but imagine what it must achieve this goal, the authors first to understand what is the goal. Exactly what it means to have a book best-seller, how many books you have for sale?

Today, a> Bestseller is usually determined by: 1) Make the New York Times bestseller list, 2) with a high Amazon sales rank, or 3) The sale of a large number of copies.

Like a book on the New York Times bestseller list does not get it? The truth of the matter is rather arbitrary. The New York Times has relationships with many libraries that its weekly sales report in the New York Times. (Note that the numbers of the New York Times' do not include Internet sales, sales inDepartment stores like Wal-Mart or turnover) in local souvenir shops. The books for sale every week to determine the specific operations that are part of the list. If your book sells like hot cakes for fishing in Minnesota, but there is no bookstore to report to the New York Times, your book is not going to make the list, even if you have more copies than the latest Harry Potter this week to sell. Just as political polls have margins of error, then the sales charts becausewould be impossible to track every week every book sold around the country.

A book that never seems to be the New York Times bestseller list could be a best seller and book-selling records in this list over time. Books that do not make a shot if they can first go through word-of - mouth have become popular and sell enough copies of best-seller status to achieve, even if they do not appear in any list of best-seller. (Note that there are some other listsas Publishers Weekly, but the New York Times is the most popular. If you compare a few different lists show a number of books and various publications, which shows the numbers are the perfect representation of the sale of books. Exact figures are difficult to acquire the publishers retain the sales of insiders, usually one million copies sold pounds and then just print publishers such thing as ") about one million copies sold" on paperback reprints.

Amazonhas become an important player in determining a best seller by a degree of sales for each title listed. By a high sales ranking top-100, for example, a book can also benefit from a best-seller status. What is the New York Times, however, if a book on Amazon sells steadily, but not to sell a large number within a short period of time, his weight will probably not go as high as a book that sells ten thousand in a week. By Brent Sampson's "Sell your book on Amazon"(2007) to obtain a ranking of 1-10, you need a book to sell over 500 copies in a single day. Books to sell a single copy in the week for comparison, at the end standings in 10,000-100,000. Many authors have followed different strategies to manipulate and sell to increase their Amazon book review of campaign operation, the books as much as possible within a week.

So simple, how many books you have to sell best-seller status were? After self-publishing guru Dan Poynter, 'sNo. 35,000. As the popularity of a best-seller may be long or short, I believe, a reasonable number. A book can go out and make a great success and sell a million copies in one year and then be forgotten. Other books, like the Bible, "A Tale of Two Cities" or "Pride and Prejudice" never appear on lists of best-selling but still selling steadily, and so far has sold more books to the bestseller lists simply because their quality, word of mouth, andAccepted as great literature.

To sell 35,000 copies of your book, is an important task. Studies show that £ 500,000 a year are now published. Of these, selling over 98% to less than 500 copies. If you are just beginning, shooting for 500 is a good start. After that, I'd say you're a moderate success, and ready for thousands.

How important is it to claim 'best-seller status "? In Wikipedia is an excellent list of Top Ten' sold for yearsUnited States. Take a look at the list of 1951:

From Here to Eternity by James Jones
The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk
Shalom Moses Asch
The Cardinal by Henry Morton Robinson
A Woman Called Fancy, Frank Yerby
The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat
Melville Goodwin, USA by John P. Marquand
Return to Paradise by James A. Michener
The Spellman Innocenti
The Wanderer by Mika Waltari
My guess is that, with the exception of two, perhaps the firstwho have had most of us have never heard of these books. So I ask again, how important to have a best-seller?

Your book will never be a best-seller list, but steady wins the race. Over time, you can sell more copies of your book, as books are the charts. Authors dream of becoming famous overnight, but it is a good book is the best investment if you are looking for durability and longevity, in my opinion, is the bestIndication of success.
